Weight loss rebounding is sadly a very common occurrence for many dieters. But should we really feel sorry for that person who lost 80 pounds and then gained it all back? The fact of the matter is that weight loss really occurs in two phases. Phase 1 is the actual act of decreasing the weight. This phase can last anywhere from a few weeks to a few years. But then once you reach your goal weight, you are NOT done! Now, Phase 2 kicks in! This phase is just as critical and requires just as much discipline as Phase 1. It is not a time to relax and celebrate, but it is a time to continue working hard, sometimes even harder. During phase 2, you must strive (the keyword is strive because it is by no means easy) to MAINTAIN your weight. Guess how long Phase 2 lasts? For the rest of your life. Phase 2 will never end. You will need to stay on Phase 2 forever. During Phase 2 you will learn how to change your habits so that you don’t repeat the same mistakes that caused you to gain all of your weight in the first place.
